"Back at it, After Mathematics"
The ability to reference Dr. Dre couldn't be passed up, even if it was a way to subtly cover up my piss poor performance with keeping the sTatements 'column' consistent.
I'll be honest, I ducked out on 9/11 due to the gravitas of that day. That's meant for those who truly bear the pain and understanding of all it encompasses.I have nothing worthy enough to offer on the topic other than my deepest condolences to those who suffered on that tragic morning.
While I was away, the NFL took a major PR hit and the approval rating of President...Oh wait, I mean, Commissioner Goodell, couldn't have taken a much larger hit from a media
standpoint. This, obviously, is due to the Ray Rice situation, mixed in with discrepancies across the board when dealing with domestic violence cases involving NFL players. Constantly discussing the personal beliefs surrounding the cases involving Carolina Panther defensive end Greg Hardy and San Francisco 49er Ray McDonald make for quite the season of...football? Yes, the game has transcended the level of being purely a spectator sport and now has reached the realm of delivering political messages to the public. For that, we say yes, to those promoting that the mistreament of women should never be tolerated, no matter what the situation may be. We also 'SMH' at the truth that our legal system isn't already doing this for us. The lack of justice inherently missing now results in the reliance on the NFL to make a monumental statement in our society. Yes, pop culture you've definitely outdone yourself this time.
To refrain from being just another talking head jumping in on the conversation, I've elected to focus on the football games that took place this weekend. As a Jets fan, I'll refrain from discussing why Dee Milner might not be the best corner in the league. Instead, I'll focus on the man, the myth and the scowling legend that leads 'Da Bears', Mr. Jay Cutler. First off, I must mention his three touchdown Comeback de Cutler but, I have to point out the awesomeness of this photo with his wife, MTV 'The Hills' star, Kristin Cavallari.
Also, there's a site dedicated to Cutler's 'do whatever I want' lifestyle right here: http://smokinjaycutler.tumblr.com/ & he loves his Smokin' Jay alter ego, which makes it even more satisfying.
Oh yeah, he's a pretty solid QB, too. And I'm pumped that he played one hell of a game Sunday night during the grand opening of Levi's Stadium against the 49ers.(The 49ers really should stop building new stadiums, historically it's resulted in a loss) Still, the new digs are worth chalking up one L on the season. Check out the many amenities offered here at the prized jewel of the Bay area: http://www.levisstadium.com/stadium-info/about-levis-stadium/
The game itself definitely delivered what you'd want to see as a casual NFL fan. The top-tier receiving group of Marshall, Jeffrey and Holmes matched with Bennett showed off their offensive potential. It was especially an amazing performance on a big stage by Brandon Marshall who surpassed Jimmy Graham for the most TD receptions since 2012 in the entire NFL. Unfortunately, such a statistical feat remained merely a blip on the talking points mentioned by many media outlets following the entertaining contest between the two teams.
The fact of the matter is, football will go on, as will life itself.
We all seem to get tied up in to the desire of searching constantly for the horrific, shocking and terrible things that surround us for the sake of dramatic stimulation. (Thanks, TMZ) Jay Cutler doesn't do that in the pocket or with his marital decision and even if he did, do you think he'd honestly give a shit? I find it's better to search for enjoyment and work to fix what's bogging the good things down, rather than to constantly consume ourselves with 'the wrong' that's sweeping through society. Sports are great for starting the conversation on controversial topics, but the key is to refrain from letting it consume those chats. Instead, let's talk about how we'll make the corrections together on platforms with actual influence to ensure the same mistakes aren't made by so many again. Then real change may be made.
And yes, here's one more amazing photo of Jay Cutler being Jay Cutler.
Happy, right? This is why I love sports today.
